Fort Lauderdale Sport Fishing is Fanntastic

Fort Lauderdale Fishing has provided nothing but action this month.

Drift Fishing on the reef at night is filling coolers with Mangrove and Mutton Snappers.

The Shipwrecks are holding heavy with Warsaw Groupers and Amberjack fish that put up wicked fights.

The King Mackerel and Bonito fish are solid offshore and quantity seems to be no problem while trolling the reef.

We've found great success trolling for Mahi - Mahi in 900 ft of water. This week we found the mother load at the 57 line offshore, Mahi after Mahi and Wahoo to top it off.

Fanntastic Fishing in Fort Lauderdale; Grouper & Swordfish!

Fishing in Fort Lauderdale is heating up this summer along with the 90 degree afternoons. The Mahi – Mahi Dolphin fish are biting nicely inshore from the reef to 1,800 ft of water in the ‘stream. The King Mackerel and Bonito fish aren’t nearly as tasty on the table but definitely make up for it while on the line. These fierce fighters will have you sweating bullets. On June 27, we could not get away from the Bonito fish; we caught 20 and left them biting.

The Game Sharks are still swimming offshore in 350 ft of water. We caught the biggest Hammerhead Shark I’ve ever caught offshore Fort Lauderdale last week. It was a whopping 15 ft long, the pictures don’t even do justice, you just had to be there. The Bull Sharks are also holding heavy just north of Port Everglades, talk about a mean set of teeth.

The reef is lit up with Snapper from big Mutton’s to Mangrove’s and even some Yellow Eye’s. The bite will continue to be consistent through the full moon.

June is one of my favorite months to go sportfishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The Warsaw Grouper bite is unreal. Big Warsaw Grouper fish will make your rod double over and put on your game face, they don’t give in easily when being pulled out of their favorite territory = the wreck.

The Daytime Swordfishing was great last week. Many boats were averaging 2 – 4 bites, with at least 1 keeper in the cockpit and even the occasional 500 lb’er. I went Daytime Swordfishing last week on a private boat with a friend of mine; we got three bites and landed a nice size Broadbill that put up a great fight. The wind will die down this week and you will hear of more Sword reports.
Fanntastic Fishing in Ft Lauderdale; Atlantic White Marlin Catch

Fishing in Ft Lauderdale couldn't have been better today. As soon as we hit open water, we got a bite from an Atlantic White Marlin fish. It was quite the dancer while in the air and put on a very exciting show for both anglers and crew. The White Marlin raced across the surface, did cartwheels just feet from the fighting chair and took a few deep dives before we got him to the boat. His dark blue to chocolate brown shades were beautiful. After our White Marlin catch and release, and of course a few pictures, we continued fishing catching loads of Mahi - Mahi (Dolphin fish) for dinner. The Vermillion Snapper were biting nicely as well. Our last pit stop of the day was at a shipwreck which produced a good size Jack.

Fanntastic Sailfish Fishing in Fort Lauderdale May 2010

Ft Lauderdale has officially welcomed the spring fishing season. Everday offshore Fort Lauderdale, more fish are being caught. The Kingfish disappeared for a little while, but are now showing up in good numbers and good sizes on the reef, 15-30 lb'ers. The Sailfish are staying energetic on the reef and with properly presented bait, you might get a double header bite. On May 1st, we landed a double header bite from a Hammerhead Shark and a Sailfish. Can you imagine your buddy next to you in the cockpit fighting a Game Shark while your looking at your Sailfish jump within feet of the boat? It was incredible and you'd have to see it with your own eyes to believe it.

The Blackfin Tuna are at home in 180 - 450 ft of water. We've had the most success with pink/white seawitches and fresh bonito strips when searching for Blackfin Tuna.

Don't get left onshore!
April Sailfish Bite; Fishing in Ft Lauderdale

        May 2nd, 2010

Fleet Week 2010 in Fort Lauderdale was a big hit. Ft Lauderdale, Florida welcomed the Navy, Coastguard and Canadaian vessels into Port Everglades on April 26th, 2010. On Friday, April 30th, we got a chance to see them leave Port Everglades and head out to sea, it was very cool for both crew and anglers.

The Sailfish are still being spotted in Fort Lauderdale! This week alone we have caught 3 Atlantic Sailfish while live bait kite fishing, hopefully they stick around for a little longer. The bite is slowing down but they are still around.

The King Mackerel have officially come out of hiding. The Bonito fish and Blackfin Tuna are swimming in herds offshore and are feeding on the troll.

The Game Shark bite is still red hot offshore Fort Lauderdale. On Friday, April 30th, we landed a 100lb Hammerhead Shark and then an Atlantic Sailfish, it doesn't get better than that.

Let's get YOU out there for a deep sea fishing charter in Ft Lauderdale!
Ft Lauderdale Swordfish Fishing Update - 4 Swordfish caught!

In my Tuesday morning fishing update, I spoke about heading out Swordfishing that night and hopefully reporting back with a Swordfish catch, well, here you have it. The bite is on.

Lately, the wind has been blowing out of the west in Fort Lauderdale; inshore seas are beautiful, where it looks good enough to head into the horizon, but as you head further east into the Gulfstream, the seas are comparable to a washing machine, not a pancake. With that said, Swordfishing conditions have not been very good. However, just hours before we were set to sail offshore to Swordfish grounds on Tuesday afternoon, the wind weakened, turned to the east and it made for a very comfortable, successful nighttime Swordfishing charter in Ft Lauderdale.

We headed offshore around 5 PM with John, an avid fisherman from Minnesota. He had never caught a Broadbill Swordfish before and conditions turned around JUST in time for his first Swordfish fishing experience. Ft Lauderdale is one of the top Swordfishing destinations in the world and John's fishing trip was successful. As soon as they got 20 miles offshore, Eric set out 4 130 International rods with dead squid down deep. The sun went down and within minutes, the bite was on. John fought his first Swordfish all the way to the transom in 20 minutes. The action didn't stop after the first bite, either. John ended the night with 4 nice Swordfish in the cockpit and a story to tell his buddies about back home. All fish were in the 100 lb range with the biggest fish weighing in at 150 lb's. Nice work, John!

The Swordfish bite will continue to pick up and the seas will continue to calm down offshore. We look forward to reporting back with more Swordfish stories!
Ft Lauderdale Fishing for Mahi - Mahi, Game Sharks

Fishing has been great in Fort Lauderdale, Florida! NO FISH RECESSION HERE!

The Sailfish bite is still scattered offshore with a few bites per day if conditions are right.

We left the dock this morning around 8 AM with high hopes of seeing a Sailfish. Once we reached 300 ft of water, the kites went in the air with live goggle eyes and a few Shark baits sitting below. Our Sailfish dream didn't come true but a BIG Hammerhead Shark ate the mid bait in 150 ft of water after just an hour. Game Sharks guarantee a fight and hopefully we can get our hands on a few Sailfish before they leave town.

The Mahi - Mahi are finally starting to show their faces offshore in Ft Lauderdale. We caught a nice size Dolphin fish today weighing in around 30 lb's and a few smaller Dolphin big enough for fillets.

Trolling the reef attracted the King Mackerel, Bonito fish and a nice size Blackfin Tuna today.

Let's get out there and hook up with a school of Mahi or maybe even a Game Shark!
Fanntastic Fishing in Ft Lauderdale, April Update

Fishing in Fort Lauderdale has been extremely active this week.

The Mahi - Mahi are pushing their way through the South Florida area, with some bites from 10 lb'ers anywhere to 30 lb'ers. Dolphin fish are one of the tastiest fish Fort Lauderdale has to offer, whether blackened or deep fried.

The Sailfish are still being seen offshore, with a few bites here and there. Last week, we had a quadruple header bite from a 2 Sailfish, a Hammerhead Shark and a Silky Shark all at once, it was pretty incredible.

Some good sized Game Sharks are biting in in deeper water, like the infamous Hammerhead Shark, Thresher Shark and we've even been lucky enough to land a few Shortfin Mako's. Shortfin Mako is the fastest Game Shark out there and they make a great meal after a stellar catch!

The shipwrecks are holding heavy with tough fighting Amberjacks and the reef is loaded up with King Mackerel, Bonito fish and Blackfin Tuna.

Heading out to Swordfish grounds tonight, thank god the seas are laying down as we speak.

Sea ya tomorrow, hopefully with a Swordfish story!
Fishing has been nothing short of epic the last couple of days.

The Sailfish are still poking through our spreads, the Game Sharks are lingering in 350 ft of water waiting for you to drop a Kingfish head down and the Blackfin Tuna are appearing on the troll and into the fish box.

We've been mighty successful fishing on the wrecks for Amberjacks and the Barracuda are holding heavy in shallower water anywhere 80 - 100 ft.

Troll the reef and your chances of hooking up with several King Mackerel are likely.

Let's get out there and go fishing in Fort Lauderdale, you won't be disappointed!
The dolphin have finally started to show up - we have been catching some nice schoolies.

Today we had Bill, Ken and his son, Nills out with us. We caught these two nice wahoo (28 and 32 lbs). We also had about a dozen schoolie dolphin, two barracudas, some blackfin tuna and a few king mackeral - all within a half day trip.

The fishing seems to have really picked up lately - the wahoos have been a nice bite and the dolphin are an added bonus.
