This morning we had Greg and his son Griffin from Hazzard Kentucky out with us. Griffin had told Capt. Mark that he really wanted to catch a shark. They headed out to about 350 feet of water and set out the rather large baits for shark. It wasn't long before Griffin got his wish. On the other end of the line was a 5 foot hammerhead shark. After a nice fight, they released the shark. They then headed back into the reef for some snapper fishing. They ended up catching some really nice vermillion snapper and just a little bit of rain.

This afternoon we had Alexander and his son Edgar out for an afternoon of fishing here in Ft. Lauderdale. We started off trolling the reef and caught some really nice king mackeral and bonitos. Alexander had asked Capt. Mark if they could do some snapper fishing, so they headed off to some deep water snapper spots that Capt. Mark has. They ended up catching some nice vermillion snappers and these two quite large yellow eye snappers - look at the size of these - I know a father and son that are going to have quite a dinner tonight.
This morning we had Mike and his family out for some offshore fishing here in South Florida. Mike stated he really wanted to try and find some dolphin. Well, the dolphin were doing a great job of hiding today. However, the had a 250 lb marlin come into the spread. He first rolled over the bait and the slashed it a few times with his bill, but never ate the bait - I think he thought we brought him a toy to play with. After playing with the bait for a little while, he left (game over). Shortly after, they had a smaller marlin come up into the spread and acted just like the larger one - just wanted to play. After not finding any dolphin and the marlin not wanting to eat, we headed back in towards the reef and on the way ended up with a couple of really nice wahoo - the morning was not a complete loss.

Just wanted to take a minute and tell everyone that I am sorry that the blog has gotten behind for the last week or so. On Friday, July 20th, I managed to fall down some stairs and tore some ligaments in my foot and managed to break a few of the bones in there. So, needless to say, due to great pain medication, I really haven't been able to keep up the reports. I am happy to say to that I am on the road to recovery and our blogs will be back on track. Thanks Capt. Brenda Fann

This Friday the 13th was not an unlucky day for Bill, Jim, Ray, Billy, Michael and Brian. They ended up catching some really nice king mackeral and bonitos. They also caught a few barracudas which we released. The summer action has been really great here in Ft. Lauderdale. They are not only catching great numbers of fish but some of the fish have been of real quality.
The weather has been holding out really nicely. They have been calling for afternoon storms but most all of the storms have stayed west and not made it to the ocean. We still have a few openings left for next week - contact Capt. Mark at (954) 728-9880.

Tonight we went out to do some swordfishing. As we were setting out our 3rd bait, we saw the light coming quickly to the surface and then he started jumping - we had about a 175lb swordfish on the line. He ended up jumping about 3 more times and ended up getting off. Capt. Mark continued setting the baits and within about 20 minutes we ended up with another bite, this one was quite a bit larger than the first one. This one gave us quite a fight for awhile and then he started taking line at a quick rate and ended up coming off. After resetting the baits, it didn't take long to get the next bite. As we were fighting this one, we saw one about 75 lbs swimming around just below the surface in our lights on the back of the boat. The swordfishing here off of Ft. Lauderdale has been really good lately with most boats catching a few each trip and having several bites during the night.

Today we had BJ, Greg, Ronnie, Kyle, Brock and Ty from Lake Placid out for a day of fishing off of Ft. Lauderdale. The sun was shining and we were lucky enough not to have the storms roll in today. The fishing was a bit tougher today and the current was really stong. The guys managed to catch some really nice kingfish and some vermillion snappers and a few bonitos. The weather this week should be about like last week here in South Florida - sun in the morning and showers coming in during the late afternoon.

Today we had Tom, Al, Russell, Jorge, George and Nickolas out for a day of dolphin fishing here in Ft. Lauderdale. Thankfully, after not seeing the dolphin for about two weeks, they decided to show up again. The guys started off kingfishing and managed to limit out on them and then they headed offshore to seek out the dolphin. They managed to find a few schools and caught some really nice fish. On the way in, the stopped at a few of Capt. Marks snapper and grouper spots and caught some vermillion snappers. As usual, the weatherman was wrong and it ended up being a beautiful day offshore here in South Florida.

This afternoon we had Kurt, Nancy, Paige, Paul and Blake out for an afternoon of fishing here in Ft. Lauderdale. We had met Kurt while he was on a layover. Kurt usually spends his time flying over the waters of Ft. Lauderdale and decided to bring the family from Tampa and see the water from ground level. They ended up catching some king mackeral and bonitos. The weather got a little interesting this afternoon, but the fishing action continued to be strong.
