The crew of the FANNTASTIC wanted to take a moment to recognize all our military servicemen that are here this week for Fleet Week and the Air & Sea show.
I was down at the rocks at the entrance to Port Everglades this morning watching the ships come in. What an awesome sight! These men and women put their lives at risk everyday for us to be able to have the freedom to do what we like. The FANNSTASTIC gives you all a great big "thank you." Pictured here is an incredible sight - the USS Kearsarge coming into port. She was so large that I could not fit it in one shot.
Today we had the Stubing family out. As they were leaving the dock this morning, Mike stated that they wanted to catch something "large".
After a nice boat ride, (we had to go out Hillsboro Inlet due to Port Everglades being closed this morning for the Naval ships for Fleet Week and Air and Sea Show). they started on their quest for the "large" one. This shark was not about to come easily. It took over 2 1/2 hours to get him to the boat and wore out the entire family and crew. This Golden Hammerhead was caught off of Pompano Beach and weighed over 300lbs. Nice job Mike and family.

Even though the skies here in Ft. Lauderdale were a bit overcasty today, we still managed to have a FANNTASTIC afternoon. We caught some really nice bonito, kingfish and some golden amberjacks. We still have a few openings left for next week, so let's get out there and do some fishing.

What an awesome day for fishing here in Ft. Lauderdale. We had Anthony and Kim and Mike and his son Robert with us this afternoon. Anthony caught a 50+ lb wahoo. At the same time, they hooked another wahoo, and fought two at the same time. The caught a few other smaller wahoo's and some kingfish.
After spending the morning doing routine boat maintenance, the boys had a blast catching the fastest fish in the ocean and some rather large ones at that. There are still some openings for this week and the fishing is FANNTASTIC. Call (954) 728-9880 to make your reservation.

This afternoon we had Jack and the family out for a fun afternoon of snapper fishing. I don't think Jack realized that the best snappers are caught in over 300 ft of water here. After a really good workout, Jack and the gang ended up with over 30 vermillion snappers and some deep water tile fish. There freezer will be full for quite some time. The weather here in Ft. Lauderdale has been wonderful. We have had a strong east wind for the last few days, but the seas have remained nice. There has been a little chop on the water, but that keeps everything moving and the fish biting.
This morning we were once again part of a convention trip here in beautiful Ft. Lauderdale. The group caught some nice kingfish, wahoo, blackfin tunas and a nice hammerhead shark. I bet they all had some cool stories to tell on the bus ride back to the hotel. We still have a few openings left this week - so, let's get out there and do some fishing.

Despite the rain here in Ft. Lauderdale today, Matt had a fishing bachelor party on two boats today. They caught and released a 6' sailfish and had some really nice kingfish, dolphin and bonito. The guys all seemed to enjoy themselves despite the cloudy skies and provided their own sunshine in a bottle. The sportfishing here in Ft. Lauderdale remains to be quite good. There are still sailfishk, large sharks, barracudas and golden amberjacks being caught right now. We still have a few openings left for April and May is filling up quite quickly, so get your reservation made so you don't miss out on a wonderful time of year to catch that "fish of a lifetime."

This afternoon was yet another FANNTASTIC day here in Ft. Lauderdale. We had Peter, Ralph and their family out for a great afternoon of fishing. Ralph was lucky enough to hook a 9' Golden Hammerhead shark that was not going to give up easily. The shark made at least three runs from the boat making Ralph work hard for this one.
This morning was a large convention trip with about 15 boats. All the boats came back with some really nice fish. The FANNTASTIC caught some really nice Golden Amberjacks in the 50-70 lb range, some kingfish and bonito. Some of the other boats had a shark, more kingfish and bonito. The fishing here in Ft. Lauderdale is still going off and there are still a few reservations left during the Air & Sea Show, but we are filling up fast. So, if you want to do some fishing and the the Air & Sea Show from the Sea, get your reservations made. We look forward to having you and showing you a "FANNTASTIC" time.

The kids managed to outfish the adults today. Here we have a picture of Emily with her and Tom's two nice golden amberjacks. Joe and the gang managed to have a great time. The weather here in Ft. Lauderdale cooperated nicely and gave everyone plenty of sunshine.
There are still a few openings left the first weekend in May during the Air & Sea show. If you would like to see the Air & Sea show by water and get in some fishing at the same time, just give us a call (954) 728-9880.

No one will ever again be able to convince Patrick that Friday the 13th is bad luck.
This afternoon we had Patrick, John and Jody out. Once again, they had a large sea monster on that managed to get away, but as Friday the 13th luck would have, they managed to hook a nice hammerhead, which Patrick proceeded to get to the boat. Talk about a lucky day. Patrick was lucky enough to get his fish of a lifetime at such a young age. Most of us do not get that opportunity. The weather here in Ft. Lauderdale is suppose to continue to be beautiful and we still have some openings available for next week - so what are you waiting for - the sharks are biting.
After all the rain we had here in Ft. Lauderdale yesterday, we were rewarded with clear skies and plenty of sunshine. Well, this morning was very exciting. We had a large bite on one of the 14/0 rods which preceeded to take about a 1/4 mile of line, then swam to the surface shaking his head and the managed to get the hooks out of him.
They quickly put the baits back out and managed to re-hook the shark. This time it was a hamerhead shark. Then it was Joe's turn to try to get this one to the boat, which he succeded. They also had some really nice kingfish this morning. All in all, it was another FANNTASTIC trip.

Well, despite the fact that it rained almost all day here in Ft. Lauderdale, the Smith family managed to catch some really nice fish. They had a very large gag grouper which the family tood home to have a big fish fry.

This afternoon looked like we might get some rain here in Ft. Lauderdale, but they passed by quickly and the sun once again came out. Jennifer and John went out with us this afternoon with one thing in mind - to catch a big fish to go over their fireplace. You never know when fishing here in Ft. Lauderdale what you might catch, and Jennifer managed to get this really nice Golden Amberjack. Boy is that going to look nice over their fireplace.
The fishing here in South Florida continues to be awesome!! Over this past week, we have had some really nice hammerhead sharks, sailfish, dolphin, big kingfish and some nice golden amberjacks - oh yea, and some gag groupers and vermillion snappers. The seas really laid down this afternoon and look like they should remain nice for some time. The swordfishing here in Ft. Lauderdale has been really good lately. If your looking for something to do in the evening other than the bars, why not try a swordfishing trip. It's 8 hours of pure anticipation and excitement. We look forward to having you give us a try.
Well, it was once again a beautiful day to be fishing in Ft. Lauderdale. After the storms last night, some where worried about the weather, but in true South Florida form, the sun shined all day.
The seas were a bit choppy this morning but they didn't slow down this hammerhead. He was hungry and looking for a snack. The FANNTASTIC crew did not disappoint him and served up a wonderful breakfast of slabbed kingfish. Kevin managed to get this fish to the boat and just as they were about to bring it aboard, the shark decided he did not want that and ran off again, making Kevin start all over again.
